The shape of Australia’s engagement with the UN

    Australia is currently bidding for a seat on the United Nations Human Rights Council in 2018–20, as well as another term on the United Nations Security Council in 2029–30. But as Peter Nadin argues in the Lowy Institute’s new Policy Brief, Australia’s involvement with the UN is underwhelming. In order to give Australia a greater say on global issues that are important to our national interests, Nadin asserts that Australia will need to increase its engagement with the international organisation.
